Turn Room from Chic to Geek

Your room expresses personality. Why not change your room into the ultimate geek room? Tech Manifesto lists some top ideas and products to add to your white wall den.

Display massive collection of Caffeinated Drinks

(Click for larger images.)
No reason to throw out those bottles of goodness.
Why not collect them and put them out on display?

If you have a black light, fill a Bawls bottle with highlighter fluid for a florescent glow.

Have at least two monitors

Hang Up CD Collection

Don’t throw out those AOL CD’s, put them up on your wall and be creative.
Displays a high tech feel, also works with vinyl records.

Include Wall of Hardware

Hardware Wall Hardware Wall 2

You can hang up old hardware from old computers on your wall (motherboards, hd’s and cards.) Take apart an old hd to remove cover and display insides.

Must have a Case Mod!

Case Mod

Case modding has become more than a hobby for few, it is a culture. You can vote from some seriously unique ones on this website or buy your own on Pricewatch.

WarGames

Star Wars

Matrix

Include some Nerdy Clock ex. Binary

Binary Clock

It’s easy for any self-respecting geek to figure out how to read this clock in a few minutes. Check out the image below for the details. Sure you could wing it and ‘approximate’ the time based on the position of the sun and act like you can read this clock, but then your not really geeky enough to buy this. Computers use on/off switches to tell the time, now you can too! Get one of these puppies and you are on your way to truly becoming one with the binary. Buy at ThinkGeek

Throw in a Plasma Globe

Plasma Ball

The plasma globe consists of a partially evacuated glass sphere containing a mixture of gases at fairly low pressure. The smaller sphere at the center of the glass sphere is connected to a high voltage, high frequency, yet low current source of alternating current. Touching the glass side will cause a plasma stream to flow to your finger tips. Bring a flourescent tube close by and the high voltage will light it. Sounds geeky to me! Buy them on Amazon.

Plush Pillow

Cartman

Rapping Cartman. Need I say more? This doll kicks a**! Includes a sound chip of Cartman performing his famous rap songs. Buy it at the Comedy Central Store.

The Tetris bookshelf?

Tetris Shelf

Thanks to Keri on the comments, this crazy concept developed by Brave Space Design can now be yours. Great idea and concept from the classic addicting game we all know and love. Check out more information about this on Gizmodo or the Brave Space Spec Sheet (PDF).

Few Good Action Figures

Bender

Everybody loves a sarcastic, galactically saavy, cigar smoking, prank prone, selfish, beer drinking robot. Enter Bender. Bender was his mothers 1729th son. His father killed by a can opener, Bender went on to college and majored in Bending and minored in Robo-American studies. This Unit 22 Bending Unit is proof positive that every desktop needs a tin metal, intriguing wind-up robot before it can be considered complete. Buy at ThinkGeek

Simpsons 2

Simpsons Series 1 Bust-Ups™ will be packaged in coffin shaped boxes as this is a Treehouse of Horror series. Individual pieces stand 2-3 inches tall and come in several plastic pieces that fit together like a kit. Set of four (4) includes Bart the Raven, Count Burns, Devil Flanders, and Kang & Alien Maggie. Buy here at ActionFigureXpress.

Haha, thank you for that. This post made my day. I haven’t had Bawls in a long long time. I guess the Sugar Free Bawls bottles work best to make it glow, the dark blue don’t show up as well. Anyways, funny post. Thanks.

P.S. I dont think im going to make my room that geeky :) I do, however, must get more LCDs!

Here’s a tip on the Plasma Globe don’t put it near your electronics. Mine makes my mouse and monitor go ape shit if I get it anywheres near it.

There’s an artist that makes polyhedra with CDROM’s… can’t remember the name though.

You should also look up the artist “Nam June Paik”

More sculpture for nerds: Joseph Cornell (mentioned in William Gibson’s Cyberpunk “Count Zero”), Jean Tinguely

    Don’t forget Mondrian.

    Try a D.A.R.Y.L. movie poster too ;)

Why not include having a website that no-one goes to or understands that has geeky statistics of temps, ram usage, uptime etc. Better yet, host it on your own computer.. which is ‘obviously’ on 24/7
